Party for the new Buhl Park

There was nothing left to the imagination for the guests making their way into the party-in-the-parkChildren’s Museum on Friday, although it was the G-rated atmosphere rather than anything scandalous that was responsible for providing the evening’s entertainment.

Co-chaired by Jen Broadhurst (with Brooks) and Mike Duckworth (with Tracy Howe), the party began indoors with a special sponsor reception that drew the likes of executive director Jane Werner, Alan and Susan Bicker, Buhl Foundation prez Fred and Christine Thieman, Susan and Lee Baierl, Russ Kemerer and Beth Wainwright, David Janusek, Kim Fleming, Pat and Alan Siger, Ralph and Ruth Anne Papa, Gregg Behr, Lou and Henry Gailliot, Adam and Marcia Kelson, Richard and Ellen Kelson, Jim and Suzy Broadhurst, Nancy Scarton and James Chaplin, Jill and John Rangos Jr., Cathy and Rob Long, Bruce and Susan Weiner, Steffie and Mike Bozic, Steven and Maxine Shangold, Matt and Eileen Meade, Sherry Jo Matt and Maria and Wayne Ringeisen.

While dancers gracefully darted between passed trays of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a crowd that quickly swelled to 320, the party eventually migrated outdoors to a tented area that served as the focal point of the evening. The cause for the celebration? Toasting the opening of the new Buhl Community Park at Allegheny Square, the Children’s Museum’s $6.1 million collaborative effort to transform a neglected city park into a vibrant green space for the North Side.

After a dinner masterminded by Bob Sendall of All in Good Taste Productions, the christening continued with an after-party sound tracked by No Bad JuJu. By eve’s end, more than $240K had been raised.

“We’re honored … we couldn’t ask for a better place, a better evening, a better staff and a better set of friends and supporters. It’s awesome,” said board prez Evan Rosenberg.
