A Spectacular 4th of July Wedding
When Dana and Mason returned to Pittsburgh for their 4th of July wedding we could think of no better place for the reception than the Smart House. Perched atop Mt. Washington it was the perfect venue to host their 30 out-of-town guests on what was to be a spectacular night!
Following an intimate ceremony in Dana’s childhood hometown of Jeanette, guests were shuttled from the Hotel Monaco to Mt. Washington. Beginning with our signature thin crust pizza, Asian vegetable rolls and antipasto display, Chef Kim wowed guests from the moment they walked into the door. As for Dana and Mason, they were able to enjoy a private photo session on the roof top terrace with champagne and light hors d’oeuvres. After being introduced as Mr. and Mrs. for the first time, they celebrated their first dance with family and friends on the dance floor.
Poolside dinner was nothing short of spectacular! Dana chose round tables with an ivory underlay and silver swirl overlays by Lendable Linen. Her sweetheart table, in the middle of her guests, topped with a silver chain overlay. Every table adorned with crystal votive candles and centerpieces of white hydrangeas, roses and baby’s breath by Cheryl of All In Good Taste Productions. Silver charger plates, white linen napkins and white chameleon chairs finished the timeless look.
Dinner was a three course Italian feast beginning with traditional wedding soup. Followed by our homemade Ricotta cheese ravioli with tomato coulis, pesto oil, Reggiano cheese and crostini. Guests finished with roasted ballontine of chicken, grilled tenderloin of beef and grilled vegetable terrines. After dinner guests were invited to the terraces to enjoy the July 4th firework display from the best spot in the city!
No Pittsburgh wedding would be complete without a cookie table and Dana’s mom did not disappoint! In addition to her dozens of cookies, a cake fit for a King and Queen awaited the Groom and Bride after the fireworks. We recreated Dana’s favorite Italian cake, Cassata, filled with sweet Ricotta cheese and fruit. Toffee Taboo provided the perfect amount of chocolate to the evening, as always.
After dancing the rest of the night away, Dana and Mason’s guests bid them farewell with a beautiful sparkler sendoff. It was the perfect ending to the perfect 4th of July celebration, if we do say so ourselves!
